PRESIDENT'S MESSAGE
Message from the President
Welcome to Wilfrid Laurier University’s centennial website. The words, images and features on this site have been designed to help the Laurier community celebrate a remarkable milestone — the 100th anniversary of this outstanding university.
Laurier traces its roots to the opening of the Evangelical Lutheran Seminary of Canada in 1911. Since then, the school has grown and evolved, undergoing a number of changes in name and structure. But whether you know us best as the Waterloo College of Arts, Waterloo Lutheran University or Wilfrid Laurier University, there are common threads that weave their way through our entire history. These include a distinct sense of community, a commitment to academic excellence, and a unique ability to inspire lives of leadership and purpose.
There will be many opportunities for you to celebrate our shared history between now and the 100th anniversary date in fall 2011. I encourage you to join us whenever you can. You will find lots of information on this website about upcoming events and ways for you to share your photos and remembrances of the Laurier community.
Enjoy the year ahead — this university has much to celebrate and much to look forward to!

Dr. Max Blouw
President and Vice-Chancellor
